In 1985, Needles was indirectly responsible for ruining Marty's life by talking him into racing their trucks. When they were working at the same company as adults, Needles manipulated Marty into joining in on an illegal scam by calling him chicken, but this caused their boss Fujitsu to promptly fire Marty. Immediately, Walter moved the family (including Flea’s older sister, Karyn) to his parents’ house where they lived together in the basement. However, the actor has not forgotten his "Back to the Future" days, posting a cute throwback photo on Twitter in honor of today's special date. Not that this was Flea’s original game plan. However, after returning from 1885 to 1985, Marty learned to stop worrying about what people thought about him and avoided the drag race by pretending to go through with it, thereby preventing the accident. It seeded a will in him to rebel against the restrictive nature of male identity. Flea traded in his scripts for set lists, and is now the bassist of popular rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers. Fujitsu, was monitoring the entire transaction and fired Marty on the spot. This time, however, Marty had learned not to lose his judgment because of name-calling and avoided the drag race by pretending to go through with it, thereby preventing the accident and changing the future.
